Inspiration

Sometimes on the weight loss journey you hit a plauteu or gain a little and feel like you have fallen flat on your face.  But you just have to remember even if you fall flat on your face your are still falling forward, you just have to get back up.

Tonights dinner 01/02/2012

Well I will be eating for a well hamburger helped and some other boxed foods that are past their best by date that I found in my pantry.  Since the food pantry does not take food past their best by date and they were given to me by someone being charitable during my three years of unemployment I feel that I can not waste them.  All though these are not the most ideal foods when it comes to point plus values I do make some alterations to the preparation to lower the points.

So tonight I ended up making teriyaki chicken (bought a marinated breast at Sprouts.  I had them butterfly cut the breast in half.) half of the breast was cooked in the pan  (4pp).

Steamed some green beans (0pp).

And I used a box of the Betty Crocker roasted garlic scalloped potatoes (one of the pantry items stated above.) I used a generic photo from the internet since I had actually wrote on the box of mine including the best buy date that I did not feel like sharing.  These just in out of the box, without the stuff in them to prepare them, are 3 points plus per serving and a box is 5 servings.

I ended up using these ingredients instead of the milk and butter.  Instead of milk I substituted it for the Greek Gods Nonfat Plain Yogurt, it is usually 1 pp/cup but the box stated only 1/3 cup was need which equals 0 pp.  One tablespoon of the I Can't Believe it's not Butter Light made with Olive Oil (which equals 1pp).  I also ended up adding Gimme Lean Ground Sausage Style (this is a soy sausage substitute.)  This is actually one of the products that I really like.  The soy sausage is 1pp/2oz which is less than meats which are usually at 1pp/1oz, the entire package is 7pp.

So I ended up making a type of potato casserole. The entire casserole ended up being 23 pp.  I ended up cutting it into 4 servings so each serving ended up being 6 pp.  Here is the final product of the casserole. I promise it tastes a lot better than it looks.  It is just a little to salty for my tastes but most boxed foods are.  That is why you will usually see me using my own mixes. I figure this should taste good with an egg on top for breakfast.

Well here it goes...

I started Weight Watchers when I found out that my work basically offers it for free.  We pay 50% of the cost upfront and if we make 15 out of 18 meetings during the session we get a reimbursment check.  And since one meeting option is on the work campus I really do not see that being a problem.  To be honest they do not even require us to stay just to do the weekly weigh in; although that option is not the most prefered for the program, since statistically people lose more when they attend the meetings.  I actually enjoy going to the meetings, not only is it an hour away from work and moral support, but each person has their own way of living the plan and hearing their success stories can help inspire one to steps that might also work for themselves.

So here goes the hard part since I have never told anyone my original weight let alone the entire internet community, when I started the program on June 29th 2011 I was weighing in at 245.4 lbs.  I wish that I had taken measurements also at this time but alas I did not.  As of my last weigh in I was at 210 lb, I had actually went up from the previous week were I weighed in at 209.4 lbs.  That weigh in had me losing 15% of my start weigh in.  Hopefully I survived the holiday season alright too.  When I started the program I was wearing a size 20 pants and now I am wearing right in between a 14 and 12, 12 being too tight and 14 being a little loose.

I was really hoping that I would have gotten my physical results back before posting this first post, unfortunately I did not.  Last year during my physical I was just above the reference range for both LDL Cholesterol  (LDL was 119 MG/DL, rr 0-99) and Glucose (Glucose was 119 MG/DL, rr 65-99).  I am really hoping that I will actually have a medically measurable result to prove that the weight loss is leading me to a healthier life sryle.  I will definately post once I recieve the results in the mail.  I can not see it taking much longer since the physical was in Nov 2011.  I am just waiting for doctor review and since it has taken this long I really don't think I am dying or anything.

So I am not exactly sure what all I will be posting in this blog.  I do now it will involve food, activity and goals to a healthier lifestyle.  I just thought that I would give a brief introduction on who I am and what I am about.

Here is a photo from before and this was not even at my heaviest.  It was hard to find one because I use to dodge the camera like no other.

Here is a photo from my work holiday party from Dec 10th, 2011.  It is a cell phone camera so it is not of the best quality but I am still happy with it.

Still have more to go but it is one step at a time....

Introduction

Well I figure that I should start off my new year and new blog with an introduction. Well first off my name is Angela as I am sure that the title of the blog has given away. For my New Years resolution I decided the typical ones, do what I love, lose weight and get more financially stable. Well how does those resolutions turn into a blog? Because these have been my resolutions for a number of years, with some success but not at the level that I know that I am capable of. So I started a blog for each of these goals so I can not only public track my progress with each but so I can also provide inspiration for others and I am also looking forward to learning from other peoples experiences, thoughts and inspirations. I will admit that I am new to the blogging world, so I will probably be updating the blogs look as I get more fluent in blogger.

So this is going to be a general introduction for all three blogs. I will be doing a more specialized one for each blog.

I loved the name Angie gets Crafty and signed up for the email address awhile back ago when I first decided that I want to do a craft blog. But the creativity went down for there in the names... But I guess that sometimes straight forward names can be the ones that stick.
